Luxury fashion a click away

Fashion a click way

LVMH, owners of some of the biggest luxury fashion brands in the world including Louis Vuitton, Dior and Marc Jacobs, has announced plans to launch a multi-brand online shopping site that will rival Net a Porter, with over 150 brands available. The site, which will be based in Paris, will stock clothing and accessories and will ship to 75 countries worldwide. We are still awaiting confirmation on whether the UAE is one of these countries, but with the Middle East being one of the luxury industry’s biggest markets we’d say it’s a no-brainer. The site will be called 24Sevres.com when it goes live next month.

Indian jewellery house Art Karat is exhibiting their latest collection, Shahzadi, at the Taj Dubai on May 19 and 20. The pieces on display are inspired by the colourful kundan (a traditional jewellery setting technique) and gold jewellery form trousseaus of Mughal and Rajput princesses and will feature semi-precious stones such as amethyst, opal and citrine. Designer and founder Asha Kamal Modi has designed jewellery for onscreen Bollywood princesses in films like Jodha Akbar and real-life princesses such as Diana, Princess of Wales, Queen Rania of Jordan, Shaikha Shamma, the Crown Princess of the UAE, and Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. Collection starts from Dh300; visit artkarat.com.

Fashion week at City Walk

Head to City Walk this weekend for its first fashion week. Expect to see fashion shows, workshops and competitions happening throughout the weekend as well as discounts and freebies for shoppers. Some of City Walk’s fashion stores including Antonio Marras, Le BHV Marais, and LE66 will showcase their latest collections on the catwalk inside the shopping district, while you get free make-up touch ups by a Dior make-up artist. There’s also the opportunity to win a shopping spree as shoppers are asked to post a picture wearing their favourite outfit from City Walk stores. Fashion bloggers Kate Lebrasse and Samantha Frances will also be on hand to offer styling tips and fashion advice to shoppers. 10am to 10pm until tomorrow.
