Shakti, a dance show featuring actor and kathak dancer Aditi Bhagwat in an opening acting followed by a performance titled ‘Samanvaya’ by Indian classical dance legends Alarmel Valli and Madhavi Mudgal is set to be staged at Centrepoint, DUCTAC on Friday, 4th March.

Shakti celebrates feminine power, passion, creativity and grace, a befitting prelude to the International Women’s Day on 8th March.

The show will open with an exuberant and novel performance that blends together Kathak, a North Indian classical dance form known for its intricate footwork and challenging pirouettes, and Lavani an upbeat and sensual folk dance form native to Maharashtra. An internationally recognized choreographer, Lavani expert and Kathak dancer groomed in the Jaipur tradition of the dance form, Aditi is also an actor known for her work in Bollywood, regional films and TV shows.

Amalgamating two Indian Classical dance idioms – Odissi and Bharatanatyam, Alarmel Valli and Madhavi Mudgal are tipped to create a singularly unique experience.

Samanvaya’ makes its way to Dubai for the first time after having travelled the world over with performances at the Kennedy Center in the US and the Edinburgh Music Festival.
