I’m completely nuts about aviation. If I’m not reading about it, I’m at flying clubs trying to learn how to fly a plane. A friend in Delhi owns an aircraft simulator and I love to use it as it helps me disconnect from the rest of the world. I’m hoping to take a two-month break soon, just so that I can go to the US and complete my training for a commercial pilot licence. That’ll be a dream come true.

I try and work out when I can find the time. I go to the gym and weight-train since as actors we need to be in shape. I also enjoy playing cricket and table tennis. I was in fact part of the Celebrity Cricket League. I have a black belt in tae kwon do too and I practise as often as I can.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some prestigious names in Bollywood. But my favourite is Madhur Bhandarkar, the director of Fashion. He has a great sense of humour and when he is on the set, the atmosphere is very light-hearted.

For my Fifties’ era look, style and hairdo in Rustom, I was inspired by a lot of actors such as Clark Gable, James Dean and Dev Anand. But in real life my hero and idol is my dad. He was probably the humblest, bravest and most patient man. We lost him in a tragic accident.

Shoes and perfumes are my weakness. But my latest splurge was an expensive Hublot watch that I’ve wanted for a long time. I also love oud-based scents, especially Oud Ispahan by Christian Dior – it’s not too strong or too mild, just right.

Most of my Dubai trips are really short, which is a shame because it’s such a great place to shop, eat and generally unwind. It’s one of my favourite cities in the world – I’m actually planning to buy a house in Dubai, and skydiving here is on my agenda too.

My family lives in Delhi and I live in Mumbai on my own. So as soon as I get some time off I fly to Delhi and spend time with my family – mum, my brother Yuvraj and my grandmum. I love being pampered by them. When I’m in Delhi I love to go on long drives to the nearby state of Punjab with a few of my closest friends.

A movie I watch whenever I’ve got free time to spare, and never get bored of, is Forrest Gump. It moves me every time I see it. To me it’s a classic, as is Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen it.

I am a complete foodie and I enjoy typical home-made Punjabi food. Butter chicken, biryani and rajma chawal are comfort foods for me. In Mumbai, my favourite restaurant is Indigo Café, which is very close to where I live in Andheri. In fact it is very popular with the film folk.
