THE TASTE OF LEBANON
I love Beirut. It makes me feel alive. I love the sense of community the city has to offer. It’s amazing to walk out of your flat in the morning and be greeted by the corner shop owner with a big smile.
I splurge on food. In England, I love finding artisanal cheeses and other local produce and visit gourmet markets to buy specialities. We have a lovely market near us in Devon called Darts Farm, which I frequent for buying gourmet products.
I love watching movies. I can’t pick one all-time favourite, but some of my favourite films are Braveheart, The Notebook, Network and Forrest Gump. One movie I’ve been wanting to see for quite a long time is Good Bye Lenin – it’s next on my to-watch list.
EVERYWHERE AT ONCE
I live between Beirut, Lebanon and Tiverton, Devon (UK). When in Beirut, I live with my sisters Joslin (29) and Adla (31). In Devon, I live with my husband Chris Bourne (45).
I’m awestruck by Richard Branson. His can-do approach to business and Galactic project inspire me. If I ever get a chance, I’d love to spend a day with him just so I’m able to learn from his entrepreneurial acumen.
Initially, I never liked social media as I thought it was quite awkward, but now that I’ve got a hang of it, I love it. My favourite is Instagram. I’m always posting pictures of what I’m cooking, eating and the projects I’m involved in. I prefer the energy of this social platform and love the various perspectives it offers.
I like Le Gray, Beirut, though I rarely stay there as I live close by. It has a great pool. I tend to visit the Four Seasons as well because their breakfast is amazing – there’s muhammara, fatteh and waffles!
MEN IN VOGUE
I’m a huge fan of fashion designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed, and I’ve walked the ramp for him a few times. Another designer I really like is Vikram Phadnis. He is amazing with Indian wear.
Ideally, I’d love to spend my weekend with a Dead Sea Mask while listening to music. I follow it up with Neal’s Yard Lavender oil and a steam towel. I love scents of jasmine, gardenias and lavender and so alternate between the floral Marry Me by Lanvin in the summer and Chanel’s Allure for winter.
TABOULEH BANISHES TROUBLES
I comfort-eat. Anything that is fried and crispy or rich and creamy is a pick-me-up. From fried chicken to creamy pastas, I love it all. But they’ll usually come paired with a tabouleh. A nicely chilled tabouleh is my favourite pick-me-up.
