CULINARY ARTS

I love cooking as it is another extension of art. I love discovering new ingredients to cook with and enjoy fish and sushi. I could eat sushi all the time. My kitchen is my happy place – we have just had our home remodelled and I love the light in there. When my family is running around the house I like to be in the kitchen cooking a meal and enjoying their presence.

FROM BRUSSELS TO DUBAI

Life in Dubai is a lot different to my hometown Brussels. The pace here is much faster, people are always on the move and rushing in traffic; it can get so exhausting but it’s never boring. Brussels is a slower way of life – people are so friendly and when you go into the stores they always have a kind word to welcome you.

ACTING OUT

I started my career as an artist and then decided to branch out into acting; it’s an art form, too. I started the theatre group Culture Emulsion for French-speaking expats in Dubai so we could come together and produce fantastic plays. It has grown each year and we are always looking for new members.

MUSIC TO MY YEARS

If I had to pick a song as the background score to my life it would be Charlie Winston’s She Went Quietly. It is the essence of me, unfussy and soft.

BORN WITH IT

I was born with a love for art and design. I think it has to be an inherent passion or talent. I have always loved beautiful things and adore artists. I trained as a painter at Les Beaux-Arts in Belgium.

DOWN THE GARDEN PATH

I know Dubai is not the best place to spend time in the garden given the heat, but if I could I would spend all the time I have in the garden of our Lakes home. I enjoy being there in the winter months in Dubai because it reminds me of Brussels. It’s important to have nature and greenery around you. I am very relaxed when I’m gardening.

SIMPLE JOYS

I try to plan my week in a way that allows me to relax with my family and have some quality time together. Normally, we all have breakfast together and plan a day out in the park, or do something active like swimming. Sometimes if we can arrange a babysitter my husband Fabio and I will book a nice meal together or just catch a movie. It’s simple living but it works for me.
