If you’ve googled www.visitabudhabi.ae recently you’d have noticed that the number of languages you can view it in has shot up. It’s 10 as of now, with Dutch being the most recent language it’s available in.
Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority’s (TCA Abu Dhabi) online destination resource is one of the most widely read, and this is part of the reason. The other languages includes Arabic, English, German, French, Italian, Portugese, Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
The emirate is apparently very popular with the Dutch. ‘Holland is a key market for us with Etihad Airways expanding codeshare arrangements with KLM, the Dutch national airline, in the past year to now offer double daily flights to Abu Dhabi,’ says Mouza Al Shamsi, acting executive director, marketing and communications, TCA Abu Dhabi. ‘We also see much potential for Dutch travellers in the cruise market following the recent introduction of MSC - Europe’s largest cruise line - home porting at the new Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal.’
The website lists Abu Dhabi’s attractions and experiences, including culture, heritage, events and recreation activities, averaging a daily hit average of more than 11,000.
