8 things to do in the UAE this Eid

It’s never too early to plan your Eid weekend, especially when there’s so much to do see and experience in the UAE

1. Make sure you catch the Eid Al Adha fireworks display at The Beach from August 31-September 3 at 8.45pm. Marching bands and street performers will keep the party atmosphere alive all weekend; visit thebeach.ae/whats-on.

Splash ‘n Party

2. Children’s waterpark Splash ‘n Party, at Jumeirah, is organising an Eid Al Adha Carnival from September 1-3. Families can dive into activities and splash around with water guns and balloons. Dh100 per child and accompanying adult, includes kids’ meal; from 3pm-9pm. Call 04 388 3008.

3. Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, has a host of activities planned for Eid Al Adha from September 1-9. Along with a fireworks display that will light up the skies at 9pm each day, roaming fire and light performers will perform along the island’s promenade. Interactive games and food trucks will be spread out across the island.

4. At Yas Mall you can watch the traditional Ayala dance being performed four times a day or get your hands painted with henna and enjoy Arabic gahwa with dates.

Ferrari World

5. In Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, story-telling shows, a cultural village, mazes and falconry will keep everyone fascinated. There’s plenty happening at Yas Beach too – watch out for face painting and bouncy castles.

6. Emirati singer Shamma will up the tempo of Eid celebrations at Dragon Mart 2 on September 2. The Arabs Got Talent singer will perform on the ground floor of the mall from 6.30pm-8pm; entry is free. Call 04 390 9999.

Mohammad Abdo

7. More music to celebrate will be provided by Mohammad Abdo’s performance at Dubai World Trade Centre on September 5. The legendary Saudi singer called the ‘Artist of the Arabs’ will sing old songs and traditional Arabic melodies for four hours. Call 04 332 1000.

8. It’ll be a circus at Mall at World Trade Centre, Abu Dhabi, during their three-day Eid Carnival from September 1-3: there’ll be performances by an Italian kids’ circus, jugglers, acrobat and giant puppets. The carnival will also include stage shows, parades, and a mascot orchestra show that will roam around The Mall and the Souk every 30 minutes. International acts aside, the carnival will also feature traditional dances from around the region such as the Emirati Ayala dance, the Dabke dance from Lebanon and Egypt’s Tanoura dance.
