Tie up with charities

We’ve always loved Invisibobble’s telephone-cord shaped resin hair ties that don’t leave hair kinky or knotted. Its limited Pink Heroes Edition hair tie for breast cancer awareness has gripped our hearts with its rose gold charm engraved with the pink ribbon, and the charitable initiative associated with it – this month the brand will donate €20,000 to a breast cancer charity. Twist into your ponytail – or even wear as a bracelet. Dh25, Rapid General Trading.

Strength, thy name is Woman

Back off breast cancer – the women of the UAE are set to unleash their inner grit to raise money for breast cancer research at the first Pink Ladies Game on October 21 at Fairmont The Palm, Dubai. With various endurance challenges, Dh100 from the registration fees of Dh650 per team of five is donated to the Pink Caravan Breast Cancer Association. There will be free examination facilities, a sumptuous poolside breakfast and music on site. Register at

Pinked on an island

What better reason to indulge in a staycation at Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island than the fact that each activity you indulge in over the weekend of October 21 and 22 on the island resort off the Abu Dhabi coast will see Dh25 donated to a local breast cancer charity! There’s plenty here in the form of archery targets, kayaking, mountain biking etc. – all decorated in pink. As part of its Pink October promotions there will also be pink, crystal-embellished pins sold for Dh10. Rooms from Dh1,190 including breakfast for two persons. Call 02 801 5400 or visit

Polished and pink

With Tips and Toes salons’ Pink Ladies’ Express mani/pedi package the only chipping will be the Dh25 you chip in to UAE-based Breast Cancer Awareness charities Pink Caravan and Al Jalila Foundation. Enjoy a relaxing manicure and pedicure followed by varnishing your talons in your favourite shade of pink and glamming it up with silver tape nail art and a 30-minute head, neck and shoulder massage. From Dh225. Call 04 399 0550 or visit

Eating fit

Stay in the pink of health with Atelier M’s organic three-course set menu. Eschewing GMO and mass-produced ingredients for fresh produce, the modern Mediterranean eatery at Pier 7, Dubai Marina, will nourish you with appetisers like sweet onion tortellini with antioxidant-rich beetroot puree, organic seared salmon and berrilicious panna cotta. Dh199 per person. Call 04 450 7766, email

Beauty making a mark

Pretty is as pretty does and Brit skincare and spa brand Elemis agrees. Annually donating to Breast Cancer Care, this year it has released a Hero Collection of award-winning products in limited-edition pink packaging to promote awareness. For just Dh462 a gorgeous clear pink kit of Pro-Collagen Marine Cream in pink, Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules, new Pro-Collagen Neck and Décolleté Balm and Frangipani Monoi Body Oil allow you to look and do good! At Elemis spas across the UAE.

Pillow talk

Knead away stress and meet the needs of Sharjah-based Friends of Cancer Patients charity when you book into or buy SensAsia Urban Spa’s fundraising treatments and products from any branch. Its classic Bali Chic massage becomes Be Aware Bali Chic massage, where 10 per cent of profits from the Dh499 treatment is donated. For more continued charitable relaxation buy the chic Be Aware neck pillows (Dh299) featuring bright pink ribbon embroidery with empowering quotes by icons like Audrey Hepburn – 100 per cent profits from the sale go to charity so you can spread awareness while you’re sleeping! Food for cause

Think and taste pink this October at La Cantine du Faubourg. The classy French restaurant in the Emirates Towers Hotel turns signature dishes like Eton mess pretty in pink – fresh blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are heaped with pink meringue and Chantilly whipped cream, and brings in delish new drinks like the Pink Blush mocktail. The (pink) cherry on top? Proceeds from the menu go to the Breast Cancer Arabia foundation. Call 04 352 7105.

Mum is forever

Let mum know her health, well-being and presence in your life is more precious to you than diamonds by joining Joyalukkas’s Think Pink campaign this October. Spearheaded by the hashtag #MomINeedYou, send a Facebook message to your mother encouraging her to pledge to conduct self-examinations and schedule regular breast screenings to nip the threat of breast cancer in the bud. The most heartfelt message wins a Dh2,500 diamond set from the jewellers. Visit
