1. Amazing Dubai premieres at Madinat Theatre

Amazing Dubai, an English-language musical about Dubai, premieres at Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat Jumeirah on October 4. Starring UAE-based talent from different countries, the musical narrates the city’s transformation from a small fishing community in the 1800s to one of the world’s most modern cities. The musical will be Madinat Theatre’s resident show, performed twice a day, all year round. Dh100 for tourists, and Dh75 for children and UAE residents; call 04 366 6546.

2. Eva Yerbabuena at Dubai Opera

Flamenco danseuse Eva Yerbabuena will turn Dubai Opera into her stamping ground on October 5 with her first UAE performance. Yerbabuena, one of Spain’s top dancers and flamenco choreographers, is known for her lightning-fast footwork and for adapting traditional flamenco forms and giving them her own flair; she’ll be accompanied by five dancers and an ensemble of musicians. Tickets from Dh200 at; show starts at 8pm.

3. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged

You don’t need a degree in literature to be well-versed with The Bard’s 37 plays in a mere 95 minutes. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged, the comedy play running at The Junction from October 5-7, will give viewers a humorous crash course in Shakespearean classics. This adaptation will feature all the elements of the original madcap play that was written and first performed in 1987, such as 100 costume changes, the absence of a fourth wall and witty dialogue. However, there will be one stand-out difference: An all-female cast. Dh100 at; shows at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
