The past three days of 2016 will have the current tennis World No 1, Andy Murray and the 14-time grand slam champion Rafael Nadal, return to Abu Dhabi for a six-player Tennis Tournament at the International Tennis Centre in

A nine-day festival kicks off in Abu Dhabi’s Moreeb Dune, Liwa from December 29 to January 6, 2017, which includes challenges like drag racing, bike racing, camel racing and horse racing. One for the records, again! Dubai Festival City launches the world’s largest permanent projection surface – five times the size of the world’s largest IMAX screens – on December 26 at a free public event in the outdoor area, Festival Bay. The official name would be revealed at this event and will be followed by a fireworks display. Visitors will receive an interactive LED wristband upon entry, which will be synchronised with the music and lights from the show. The light, fire and water will make its first appearance in Dubai among other attractions like LED drummers, dancers, street-style performers and competitions to win shopping vouchers.

Think you’re a know-it-all? Time to test those grey cells at a Brain Drain quiz night that happens every Monday from 8.30pm at Ten Street – the Canadian-inspired restaurant at JA Oasis Beach Tower. CULTURE AND CUISINE

The culture and heritage festival runs until January 7 at the Awafi area of Ras Al Khaimah and will include a Heritage Village that’ll ‘stage’ a traditional Emirati wedding, an entertainment stage for activities and contests, a kids’ play zone and a traditional bazaar for the bargain hunters. Running daily from 4pm-11pm, the festival is free to enter and is expected to be visited by a few Emirati actors and social media influencers.

Enjoy the seasons’ festivities with food trucks, live music and a mini-market by local artisans with TruckersDXB at the Emirates Golf Club. Running from December 23 to 25, 12pm-12am, the event has an entry fee of Dh50 and can be booked at 800tickets.com.
