Sharjah is all set to welcome a new luxury resort – the Al Bait Sharjah, at the end of the year. Located in Heart of Sharjah – the Emirate’s historical inner-city district under restoration – the project aims to revive Sharjah’s heritage and history.
How will it do that?
For starters, the hotel will be constructed from foundations of old houses that once belonged to important families in the area; hence the name Al Bait which means home in Arabic. Once constructed, the five-star resort’s 53 luxury guestrooms and suites, will overlook the conservation project of the last remaining round wind tower and the hotel will have a direct connection to Souq Al Arsah – the UAE’s oldest traditional bazaar and marketplace.
Although its exterior architecture will incorporate handcrafted thatched roofs and motifs of a bygone era inside you’ll find state-of-the-art mod cons such as meeting spaces and four lavish restaurants – The Restaurant will be an all-day dining venue serving international cuisine while The Arabic Restaurant, an authentic Emirati venue, will serve regional specialties full of rich spices and flavours such as saffron, cardamom, turmeric and thyme. Those with a sweet tooth can look forward to pastry outlet The Café and the Ice Cream Shop, which pays tribute to the Dondurma – the frozen Turkish ice cream that defies the law of gravity and can be eaten by holding cones upside down.
A spa with hammam facilities and treatments from places like India, Bali and Tibet are also set to take shape. The hotel’s Health Club will also have a state-of-the-art gymnasium complete with Techno-gym equipment and personal coaching sessions.
Al Bait Sharjah is a project developed by General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM) – the company behind the renowned Chedi Muscat – and Shurooq (the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority) and aims to play a major role in attracting tourists and visitors to the Heart of Sharjah.
