Anjeer Ka Shahi Tukra

  • 2 slices of one-day old white bread 1 litre full-cream milk

    100g sugar 10g cardamom powder

    200g ghee

    1 fresh fig, sliced into discs

    Saffron-infused whipped cream, for garnishing (optional)


  • Cut bread with a round cutter, keep aside.

    Heat milk in a heavy-bottomed saucepan and let it simmer until it thickens.

    Add sugar and cardamom powder, stir and keep aside.

    Heat ghee in a frying pan and fry the bread slices until it obtains golden brown. Remove it and place on a paper towel to get rid of excess ghee.

    Place the fried bread slice on a plate, pour a portion of reduced milk (rabdi) on top, garnish with fig slices and a portion of whipped cream, if desired.

    Serve cold.
