Ingredients

  • 1kg chicken, cut into pieces

    1 cup yogurt

    Salt, to taste

    3 cups rice, cooked

    3 tbsp unsalted butter

    5 slices Pita bread, cut in squares

    1 tbsp garlic cloves, minced

    3 tbsp white vinegar

    For the sauce:

    1 tbsp butter

    2 garlic cloves, minced

    2 tsp tomato paste

    1 (15 oz) can of tomato sauce

    Salt and pepper, to taste


Method

  • To make Fattah, mix chicken with yogurt and salt.

    Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    Place the chicken in a single layer on a baking dish and cook in a preheated oven until cooked.

    Pour out the juices from the pan and keep aside.

    In a pan over medium heat, melt butter.

    Add pita pieces.

    Stir until golden.

    Remove it from the pan. In the same pan, add garlic and saute until its raw smell goes.

    Add vinegar, stir and put the pita pieces back in the pan.

    Toss well.

    To make the sauce, heat butter in a saucepan over medium heat and saute garlic.

    Add the remaining ingredients and heat through.

    Set aside.

    To assemble, arrange bread pieces on a platter in a layer then top with rice.

    Arrange meat on top of rice and pour the prepared sauce over.
