Sago seeds and yam patties

  • 150g sago seeds

    300g yam, peeled, cut into cubes and blanched

    300g boiled potatoes, peeled

    80g chopped onion

    20g chopped green chillies

    5g chopped coriander

    1 tbsp red chilli powder

    1 tbsp coriander powder

    1 tbsp roasted cumin powder

    50g roasted peanuts, coarsely crushed

    20g grated ginger

    40g finely chopped onion

    Oil, for frying


  • Soak the sago seeds in water for 2 hours, then drain well.

    Mix it with the remaining ingredients and make lemon-size patties.

    Shallow fry them in batches in medium hot oil until golden brown on all sides.

    Remove them onto a paper towel-lined plate and serve hot with a spicy dip or chutney of your choice.
