Eggplant helps in strengthening bone health, offsets the onset of osteoporosis and improves cardiovascular health, among several others health conditions. Citing studies, Rauan Al Ashkar, dietitian at Medcare hospital, says that the antioxidants found in eggplant could help prevent some chronic diseases such as cancer and may reduce the risk of heart disease.

Being high in fibre, eggplant helps in lowering blood sugar levels, slowing the rate of digestion and absorption of sugar.

Al Ashkar adds: ‘It is high in fibre but low in calories, both of which can help promote weight loss.’
