The eye can absorb electromagnetic energy very quickly. So, exposure to artificial blue light from smartphones and other such devices can adversely affect the retina and lens of the eyes, says Sanjeev Krishna, founder, Sanjeev Krishna Yoga. With increased exposure to digital devices these days, Krishna suggests practising specific techniques every day to prevent vision damage in the long run.

‘Wash eyes in cold water as soon as you get up,’ he says. He also suggests some exercises: keep the head straight, open eyes wide then close them tightly. Repeat five times. Rub palms together and place on your eyes. Keeping your head steady, rotate your eyes in a clockwise then anti-clockwise five times each. ‘These techniques can help in toning eye muscles and the connecting tissues for the efficient functioning of the eyes.’
