The most important thing to remember about fitness during Ramadan? Do what you can, not what you can’t. Fasting often means that you can’t operate at the same capacity as you could before- so if you’re deadlifting and running half-marathons on the daily, consider putting down the weights and switching to more low-impact sports to prevent the nasty side effects of overworking yourself.

“A drop in the sugar level can cause several other symptoms such as weakness, shaking of the hands, difficulty in speech, heart palpitations etc,” says M. Hamed Farooqi, Director of the Dubai Diabetes Centre, in an interview with Gulf News. Stay on the safe side with these low-intensity workouts.

1. Late night sweat sessions at The Room

Not many gyms go the extra mile to ensure you can stay fit between late meals and even later social commitments. The Room in Zayed Sports City, however, is different. Work out after sundown with classes from 9-10 and choose between Zumba, Pilates or Total Body Conditioning for a workout to suit your energy levels. After you’re done, reward yourself with a coffee at their Live-In Room, a lounge where you can unwind after a long day.
