Q: A friend of mine was recently affected by Covid-19 but fortunately not seriously. Can homeopathy help in post-Covid residual symptoms?

A: The latest wave of the Covid-19 variant, Omicron, has taken everyone by surprise due to its high infectivity rate. But the good part is that there have been fewer hospitalizations and fatalities compared to previous variants.

The symptoms usually last between two to five days in the acute phase. But post that, several people continue to deal with or undergo various residual symptoms. Some critical indicators of the post-residual effects of the virus include:

A nagging dry cough with occasional minimal sputum, sore throat, and heavy breathing.

Weakness, low energy levels, headaches, burning sensation (mainly on soles), or joint pain.

Increased heart rate – palpitation is also noted where the pulse/heart-rate remains high, between 85-100/ min, with a feeling of uneasiness.

Anxiety – both adults and children might suffer from this, causing them to experience sleeplessness, brain fog (difficulty in concentration), feeling low all time, and stress.

Some other signs can include chest pain, loss of smell, loss of taste, red-eye, vertigo, and diarrhoea. Hair fall is also a common symptom. All of these can be the after-effects of the virus. These symptoms are a combination of several residual physical and mental symptoms and must be addressed immediately.

Homoeopathy can play a crucial role in helping tackle these issues by selecting specific remedies based on particular symptoms, both physical and mental, on an individualistic basis. Patients suffering from post-Covid syndrome also need constitutional medication to bring back the balance of their health.

Certain multivitamins like Vitamins C and D and certain minerals such as Zinc are also helpful. However, the selection of doses should only be made by a doctor, nutritionist, or pharmacist.

Breathing exercises specifically Pranayam, is a must and should be done frequently. Above all, it is crucial to remain strong mentally and believe that you can beat these symptoms quickly with the right approach and a positive mindset.
