Good news for impatient luxury shoppers: A new, Dubai-based e-commerce site is launching on December 15 with a promise to deliver the likes of Gucci and Jimmy Choo within two hours of ordering. Al Tayer Insignia, the retail business of Al Tayer Group, announced the launch of Ounass on Wednesday, and it’s the most exciting news in UAE online shopping this year (in our opinion).

Ounass, which will be in both Arabic and English, will retail more than 60 of Al Tayer’s luxury fashion brands, and cover fashion, beauty, accessories and home products.

The promise is for Ounass, said Khalid Al Tayer, Al Tayer Insignia CEO, at a media launch, to be purely focused on meeting the needs of the Middle Eastern customer, with an aim to get the process of online shopping running successfully in the region.

Al Tayer hopes the brand will be “globally relevant but have a local voice”.

Brands include Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo and Valentino, while a number of designers will create one-off capsule collections for Middle Eastern customers. Luxury brands Gucci, Roland Mouret, Rami Al Ali and Ayesha Depala have already created pieces which will be available to buy from the site on December 15.

If you think you’ve heard the name Ounass before that’s probably because you have. Many years ago Ounass was Al Tayer’s first multi-brand department store, which was closed down when the company launched Harvey Nichols in the region. According to Al Tayer “the plan was always to bring Ounass back but we were waiting for the right time and the right way to do it, and now it feels right” The Ounass site, which is the result of months of work from the team, aims to be bigger and better than any other luxury fashion ecommerce site currently in the region.

As for that two-hour deliver? It’s for Dubai-based customers, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. All UAE customers will received their products on the same day and GCC customers receive deliveries within 48 hours. (We’ll be testing this out in the coming weeks so will be here to let you know if the two-hour promise really does translate into reality.)

The website and app will also have a team of personal shoppers to visit buyers at home, choosing pieces from the site that can be purchased there and then. The site also accepts cash payments.

Shop the collections at from December 15, 2016.
