Keeping up with the Kardashians star Scott Disick was in Dubai this weekend for the opening of Sugar Factory in Dubai Festival City.

Scott, who is here for a three-day trip alongside Kim Kardashian is staying in the luxury aquarium view Neptune Suite at The Atlantis Hotel, Palm Jumeirah.

The star, who is known for his dry sense of humour and outrageous behaviour on the show, definitely proved it’s not just for the cameras. Scott was on form and controversial throughout our interview, even giving some shocking answers and sparking nervous laughs from his large entourage.

The level of security around the interview was high, and there were many subjects we couldn’t talk about. Anything related to his relationship with Kourtney and her rumoured fourth pregnancy was out, as well as anything about the rest of the Kardashian family and Kim’s recent attack in Paris. Also off the list were questions about his excessive partying.

Despite this, Scott was friendly and really happy to talk about his children and what he is doing to protect them since Kim’s Paris attack. He also reveals what life being a reality TV star is really like. While some of what he said is too outrageous to reveal, here is what Scott did tell us.

You’re here for the opening of Sugar Factory – what will you be ordering tonight?

There’s a pepperoni salad a really like if it’s a similar menu to the US. Everything there is really fun – as long as there’s no cheese as I’m slightly allergic to it.

What are you planning to do while you’re here in Dubai?

I’m excited to see some of the sights and travel around. So far I haven’t seen much but I hope I get time to as it seems really exciting.

Would you like to bring your kids here?

Definitely, why not? – it seems really safe.

What is the day in the life of Scott Disick?

I think the beauty of being a reality star is that everyone kind of knows what a day in my life is like. I wake up and I have cameras around me, but I also have the people behind the cameras around me and that is the nice part. We have all worked together for 10 years so they feel like family now. It is pretty fantastic that I’m able to earn income and still be around people that I enjoy being around.

When the cameras stop rolling what’s the first thing you do?

We [The Keeping Up With The Kardashians team] have all been together so long that I really don’t think a lot changes when the cameras stop rolling. I think that is why the show has been as successful as it has because what you see really is the reality and not a lot changes when we stop filming.

You have lived the last 10 or more years in the spotlight – how do you think that has affected your life?

I probably earned a lot more income! But on a serious note it has meant people have learnt about the ins and outs of what I do. Of course this has negatives and positives but it’s not the worst thing for people to know everything about my life.

How much of your real lives do we actually see? Is it just a really small part of what’s really going on?

I think because of the way the show is produced they do go out of their way to give you the best content they can, so if you’re not seeing something it’s probably just us washing our faces in the morning or watching TV.

What about your children – would you like them to be in the spotlight as they get older?

That is a really tough call because it’s really hard to ask a child if they are Ok or not OK with it, but this is the life that we live and I think we try as hard as we can to bring as much normality to our children as we can. If at any point if our kids said to us this is uncomfortable or not what they want we have to respect that, but you have to understand that this is our job and our life so it does come with the territory.

Not a day passes where the newspapers and websites aren’t filled with stories about your family – what’s the most ridiculous story you’ve ever seen written about yourself?

I mean they are all pretty ridiculous! People strive on negativity not positivity and that seems to sell papers. I know recently there was a story that said I was having a relationship with my mother in law [Kris Jenner], which is pretty abnormal for anybody and disgusting that they would print that. It’s always funny when they print stories that I’m in a relationship with Khloe [Kardashian] because she is like my best friend, so that’s things I can laugh at but sometimes it’s just too much.

Do you ever take the stories to heart?

No I don’t. At the end of the day they are a business as much as we are and I’m sure they must know that running negative stories sells more than positive stories so they have to do it to keep their numbers up and make money.

What do you love most about being a dad?

Honestly I think being a father is pretty unbelievable. Every day is a new day and it’s great fun. Obviously I have lost some people in my life [Scott’s parents died within months of each other in 2014] but having my amazing children really sums up my life and keeps me positive.

If you take them for a day out what do you love to do with them?

Just spending time with them. They have a great life. I was lucky enough to recently take them skiing that was amazing. I’m just really happy that I’m fortunate enough to be able to give them a fantastic life.

Obviously we know there have been huge security issues in your family recently – what extra measures are you taking to protect yourself and the children?

I’m not measuring things differently it’s always been the same but there are just some really unfortunate things that can happen in this world and that’s the sad thing.

I think it’s important to remember that there are millions of people going through really hard times and just because someone is in the spotlight we hear all about it, but there are so many people struggling who don’t have the same help that we do. We are in a world that’s not that safe so I just hope to protect my children and keep them as much as I can.
