“We are a young country, proud of its youth”, was the inspirational statement by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum that inspired the creation of Flow, a new F&B initiative at the Jumeriah Emirates Towers. The statement is even engraved on the walls of the café set to open on March 19. And that’s not the only unique feature about this café concept – the brainchild of Emirates Youth Council and Her Excellency Shamma Bint Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, the UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, is also staffed by a management team of only under-30s.
The café boasts the country’s first-ever ‘milk taps’ for customers – the state-of-the-art, milk dispenser will allow customers to personalise their dishes and drinks with almond, rice, soya and coconut milk, as well as low fat and whole cow’s milk.
It’s all part of the healthy-eating movement that Flow aims to facilitate with a sharing-style menu full of locally-sourced organic ingredients and portion-controlled meals plus a mixture of vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and Paleo-friendly options. The café will also promote home-grown business like Dubai’s The Espresso Lab who will be the exclusive coffee suppliers at Flow.
Apart from being a hub for clean and local food, Flow also aims to encourage ideas, conversations and connections amongst the younger generation through its open workspace and a meeting space that will host regular round-table discussions featuring young leaders. “Flow has been created by youth to be a destination to connect and lead the movement towards a healthy lifestyle. The correct diet ensures a healthy mind and when people are in this state they reach their optimum potential,” says Her Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazroui.
A dedicated app is also in the process of being developed, which will allow those working in Jumeirah Emirates Tower to order food and beverages direct to their desks. Flow has been developed by Jumeirah Restaurant Group.
