Tashkeel's UAE-made furniture showcase

Diwali at Waterfront Market
The Waterfront Market’s Main Atrium in Dubai is set to host this year’s Diwali festivities till November 14 with an array of fun activities from 2pm-10pm. Blue circle campaign on World Diabetes Day
The Friends of Diabetes Association, one of the organisations promoting health under the Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, has launched the "Blue Circle" campaign. This comes in conjunction with the World Diabetes Day. As part of the global initiative "Blue Circle" aims at supporting patients with diabetes and raising health awareness of community members about methods of prevention and coexistence with diabetes.
The drive is on until November 15 and features a medical exhibition at the University Hospital Sharjah to showcase diabetes-related technical and pharmaceutical products and recreational activities to raise awareness of diabetes, in addition to organising webinars and virtual lectures to be delivered by panel of doctors, nutritionists and psychiatrists.
The campaign also includes free examinations and consultations, in cooperation with Moorfields Hospital in Dubai.
Environmental drive targets Abu Dhabi students
Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer) has launched a virtual awareness campaign targeting students, parents and teaching staff of the emirate’s kindergartens, schools, colleges and universities.
Run in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Education and Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the drive aims to support the emirate’s efforts to promote environmental awareness, and encourage students and staff to adopt an environmentally responsible behaviour. Through the campaign, Tadweer is also highlighting its prominent role in protecting Abu Dhabi’s environment and public health and safety.
Set to run until early 2021, the drive targets 9,000 students, and focuses on increasing their awareness about various environmental issues to instil in them a positive attitude. To enable students to be responsible towards environment conservation and ensure their active participation in fulfilling Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, Tadweer seeks to educate them about the proper methods to handle various types of waste.

Free fitness activities at Ski Dubai
To coincide with the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which is on until November 28, Ski Dubai will host a series of free-to-attend activities that will make it fun and easy for everyone to complete their 30 minutes of physical activity.
Ski Dubai is ensuring recommended health and safety guidelines are followed and has implemented an all-encompassing sanitisation and physical distancing plan to ensure that guests can enjoy a comfortable experience with added peace of mind. Participants will maintain a physical distance of two meters during all activities and will be required to wear a face mask, which may be lowered during strenuous exercise if required. Trade in your sneakers for a pair of hiking boots and kick-start your morning with a snow hike on the slopes of Ski Dubai. Film talks and shows
Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) announced an expanded programme for the annual film festival, Sharjah Film Platform (SFP). The SFP seeks to provide a platform for emerging and established filmmakers from across the UAE and around the world. The 2020 edition of SFP will present a line-up of film screenings online and in cinemas. The screenings will take place at the Foundation’s Mirage City Cinema, Flying Saucer and Cinemacity Imax at Zero 6 Mall in Sharjah, UAE, from November 14-21. Online screenings will be hosted on the Foundation’s dedicated virtual festival platform.
Alongside this, SFP will feature public talks on contemporary topics in film as well as awards for the best documentary, experimental and narrative films. The festival’s film screening programme will open with the premiere of Soha Shukayr’s Once Upon a Revolution, an original short film supported by the Foundation’s Short Film Production Grant 2020.
The SFP3 will feature more than 60 films from around the world.
In addition to the screenings, SFP will offer an online programme of diverse talks, panel discussions and conversations led by renowned filmmakers, artists and film industry professionals — all of which are free to the public — as well as workshops aimed at children interested in motion picture and moving-image arts.
