Head to the Village
Dubai has re-opened its doors to celebrate the Silver Jubilee year of Global Village in style while adhering to strict pandemic protocols that include making it mandatory for visitors to be wearing masks at all times while maintaining social distancing. Strict disinfection procedures are in place to ensure the venue is hygienic. Over 600 hand sanitisation stations have also been set up. This year be prepared to experience among other things, the opportunity to view replicas of major landmarks from across the world, take a stroll along Celebration Walk (created to celebrate 25 years of this destination), and enjoy the amazing food at the stalls at Kiosk Street. Stronger. Fitter. Confident. Woof-BARE DXB’s motto perfectly sums up the outcome of their first workout for you and your pet dog on November 12 at 5.30pm at their branch in Business Bay. The fitness hub plans to take you and your dog through the Pre-Weekend Calorie Killer session, coupled with a high intensity workout, with weight training and conditioning. Tickets are Dh120, and there are opportunities to win prizes from FoxiBox when you bring along your dog, who must have at least been to doggie day care or they should be extremely comfortable with other dogs.
A different chapter
The 39th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), themed "The World Reads from Sharjah" is on until November 14, 2020. This year, the fair is being held in a hybrid manner. Expo visitors must pre-book fixed 3-hour (renewable) visitation slots at registration.sibf.com. They will be given coloured bracelets that will monitor their visits. The fair’s halls and publisher stalls will be sanitised and disinfected daily. The cultural programme will comprise discussions with renowned authors, intellectuals, poets, politicians and artists from 19 countries which can be accessed via the ‘Sharjah Reads’ virtual platform. Registrations for the discussions and workshops can be done on sharjahreads.com. Look out for among others, Prince Ea, Robert Kiyosaki, Lang Leav, Yann Martel, Ravinder Singh and Shashi Tharoor.
Yoga-nna love it
Gate Avenue and INSPIRE at DIFC are inviting people to experience an unusual twist on the practice of yoga with blindfolded and sound-off yoga on Saturday, November 7 at 4pm at Under the Gate Building. Each participant will be given a set of wireless, noise-cancelling headphones to tune into what the instructor is saying and tune out of any interruptions.

Also, as part of Dubai Fitness Challenge, yoga classes for people of determination will be held at DP World Fitness Village Kite Beach, Astral space on November 14 and 21. The "Wheel Power Yoga" for wheelchair users will be held on November 14, 9.30am, and the "Adapted Yoga", which is for people with special needs, will be held on November 21 2020, 9.30am.
