Sharjah Light Festival

Immerse yourself in a whole new world as the Sharjah Light Festival returns to the emirate for its tenth anniversary. The magical event will feature installations and lightshows at all architectural landmarks in Sharjah, such as Al Hisn Fort, Al Noor Mosque and the like. And the best part? It can be viewed for free! Out in Ajman, as the temperature decreases, reasons to step out increase. Watch animated classics like Hotel Transylvania and Stuart Little with your family at the free-for-all outdoor cinema experience at Al Hamra Movie Nights. The films will be screened for free, but bring your own blankets, chairs and bag of popcorn, to keep cosy during the screening. Watch out for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships as tennis giants make their way to Dubai for a riveting showdown. Running from February 17 to 29 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, the tournament will feature tennis heavyweights such as Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Ashleigh Barty and Belinda Bencic, as they compete for the prestigious trophy. This Valentine’s Day get nostalgic at the Bollyboom Valentines 2020 concert, where Indian pop rock band Sanam will belt out covers of romantic Bollywood hits such Lag Jaa Gale and Mere Mehnoon as well as their original tracks with accomplished singer-songwriter Sanah Moidutty who’s known for songs such as Afeemi, on February 14 at Bollywood Parks Dubai. Head to the NYU Abu Dhabi Arts Center to catch Cartography – a platform-bending theater piece centering on migration and refugee youth, created by NYC-based theater artist Kaneza Schaal and accomplished fine artist Christopher Myers. Running until February 15 at The Black Box at The Arts Center, the multi-platform show will incorporate elements from all forms of media, from filmmaking to dance and technology – sound sensors that respond to actors voices to create a virtual storm and cellphones will be used to mark memories and distances traveled, promising a visceral experience for all viewers. The community event for kids, run by kids will see children set up a stall and sell everything from books to furniture and CDs and learn how to repurpose everyday items. The market will also hold a plethora of activities to delight visitors, from art and cooking workshops to pet adoption.
