Have fun at the Hub

Foodies, families and fun-seekers – DIFC’s gate avenue is the place to be every day until April 1. The valet parking lot is transforming into an outdoor pop-up for the Hub Food Festival, for all ages to grab a delicious bite from local eateries. Art Nights

DIFC Art Nights returns this week with the theme ‘The Future is Here’. The 13th edition of the much-anticipated biannual event will showcase creative and visionary artworks from talented local and international artists. The two-day DIFC Art Nights will take place on March 24 and 25 at Gate Village from 6pm onwards. The event will feature established as well as upcoming artists from around the world.In line with this -edition’s theme, futuristic installations will be on display and will include non-fungible tokens (NFTs), digital artworks, and artists’ depiction of what the ‘future’ means to them.  The artworks and installations will be on display both outdoors as well as in some of Dubai’s most prestigious art galleries, such as Opera Gallery, Sconci Art Gallery, Tabari Art Space, Christie’s, and Sotheby’s Art among others.

Kids camps

Spring break is nearly here and parents looking to keep their kids entertained and active can sign up for a number of exciting Spring Break Camps at The Galleria Al Maryah Island. There’s the Fit4Fun with a full day of activities around group sports ranging from skating, mini golf, football and cricket plus fun games, arts & crafts and much more. There’s also the National Geographic Ultimate Explorer’s spring camp  where kids will get a full day access to the fully immersed play-based learning experiences found at National Geographic Ultimate Explorer in addition to activities such as slime making, figurine painting, games & challenges and more.

Art in the park

Art in the park is a new initiative by Index Mall to celebrate art and artists in the mall’s outdoor park in the heart of DIFC. The Initiative will officially launch and run until March 26. Art in the Park is a celebration of accessible art, artists, live paintings, students’ competitions, and two featured artist installations, together with an ongoing outdoor exhibition of a selection of artworks curated by Legacy Art and Pupilar. The event kicks off with a strong message of inclusion where an artist of determination, Roshan Perera, would be painting live with the help and support of a sign language instructor to enable communication with visitors and staff. The story of Abol

Oblong Contemporary Gallery in BlueWaters Island presents the Story of Abol by Abol Atighetchi  until the May 30. Palace reading

Qasr Al Watan is inviting the public to celebrate the month of reading at the Palace where visitors can get have access to rare artefacts and manuscripts in addition to a collection of over 50,000 books. From the Palace’s very own library to its various zones housing preserved books, avid readers can come travel through time, culture and space with each book, explore a sea of heritage and connect with their favorite authors. Starting with the House of Knowledge, visitors can expect to find timeless artifacts in an enlightening exhibition that sheds light on the rich legacy of the Arab region from the 9th till the 13th century. Holding in place rare manuscripts in terms of subject, form and scarcity of copies, visitors will get to explore the multiple achievements and intellectual contributions of the Arab world. Run Skecher Run!

The Skechers Performance Run series is right around the corner, with the final of five athletic events set to take place on March 26. All athletes receive a medal and a t-shirt after crossing the finish line, and you can stroll around Ripe Market once you’re done. Choose to take on either 2.5km, 5km, or 10km, as you sprint around the Ripe Market at Dubai Police Academy on a traffic-free course. All athletes and spectators over the age of 16 should have fully completed both COVID-19 vaccination doses 14 days before taking part in the activity. Tickets start at Dh75. Electrofest on Sunday

NYU Abu Dhabi’s (NYUAD) Arts and Humanities Division's Music Program returns with its annual Electrofest 2022 in person on March 27 at 4pm at The Arts Center. The electronic music festival is free and open to the public. Electrofest will present live, cutting-edge electronic music, video art, sound sculpture, turntablism, and improvisation. It will feature diverse works and performances by external collaborators such as music composer Joe Najm as well as turntablist and video artist James Kelly, alongside faculty and artists from NYUAD.
