The NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Art Gallery has announced its public program throughout May and June as part of its ongoing exhibition, Parthenogenesis: Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh, Hesam Rahmanian. The free events include family gallery visits, a film series titled Cinema RRH, and an artist talk on the nature of collaboration and the origination of new works across the artists’ different disciplines. The program will allow participants and visitors to engage in conversations around ideas of refuge, art creation, and collaboration across disciplines. Night of the classics

The eleventh edition of the InClassica International Musical Festival is returning to the UAE at the prestigious Dubai Opera from May 8 to June 2, 2022, featuring performances from world-renowned classical musicians serenading audiences with classic favourites. As part of the 19th edition of its flagship Abu Dhabi Festival, the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation is partnering with The Middle East Institute (MEI) Arts and Culture Center to present a two-day virtual literary festival, Narrating The Middle East: The D.C. Arab Literature Festival, taking place, 17 May and 18 May, 2022. The festival features leading Arab and diaspora writers, poets, publishers, and experts on the literature of the Middle East, with panel discussions exploring new writing from and about the Arab world, the challenges of publishing and translating works from the Middle East and how to grow the Arab world’s literary infrastructure.

Prominent Emirati poet, artist and filmmaker, Nujoom Al-Ghanem (above) will be among the featured speakers. The list of speakers includes Rasha Abbas, Isobelle Abulhol, Kareem James Abu Zeid, Zaina Arafat, Lana Barkawi, Zeina Hashem Beck, Matthew Davis, Lynn Gaspard, Nathalie Handal, Lisette Jaquette, Yasmina Jraisati, Ursula Lindsey, Dunya Mikhail, Ahmed Naji, Karen Phillips, and Marcia Lynx Qualey. The festival will conclude with a hybrid, in-person poetry reading at the Middle East Institute featuring Palestinian-American Zeina Azzam, recently named Poet Laureate of the City of Alexandria, Virginia in the US.

Ghazal evening

Legendary singer Pankaj Udhas returns to the city today (Friday May 6) for a heartfelt performance of his timeless songs. Expect a night of golden hits as the 'Velvet Voice of India' takes to the stage with an orchestra of 15 musicians.
