Expo 2020 Dubai signs off tonight after a captivating 182 days of fun, learning, making new connections, fantastic cuisines and lots of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. An impressive cast of over 400 performers will entertain audiences at Al Wasl Plaza and across the world during the closing ceremony, which starts at 7pm.
According to organisers, the ceremony will feature a continuation of the journey of the young girl from the opening ceremony, looking towards the next 50 years of the UAE. It was a then unknown Mira Singh who starred in the opening ceremony, playing the role of a young girl who represents hope for all people.
Apart from the spectacle at Al Wasl Plaza, celebrities will also be performing at other venues tonight at the Expo. Renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma will regale audiences at Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre starting at 8pm, while Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Norah Jones will serenade viewers at the Jubilee Stage from 8.30pm.
Christina Aguilera will take the Jubilee Stage stage at 10pm, bringing the energy level a notch higher with her dance hits and setting the mood for what is expected to be an epic fireworks display at 11:55pm.
“It’s going to be one befitting end to the first-ever World Expo to be held in the MEASA region,” organisers said of tonight’s fireworks show.
Visitors are reminded that all event venues will have limited capacity and on a first-come first-served basis. To accommodate the huge influx of visitors, the Dubai Metro will run for 24 hours, while visitors can also avail of the Park & Ride service from the Jebel Ali Metro Station.
