And the Oscar goes to...
A touch of Hollywood glamour doesn’t have to come with an A-list price tag, thanks to L’Oréal Paris’s Pure Reds lipstick collection. We love the all-star line-up including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Julianne Moore and Freida Pinto who all wear white with scarlet lips in one of the collection’s eight shades. Think ruby, cherry and brick – there’s a red for everyone, all in a Hollywood-style matte finish. We know what we’ll be wearing while we watch the Oscars on TV! Dh75 at L’Oréal counters.
Sea Fu lovers
If we could eat at Sea Fu at the Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah Beach, every night, we would. And after trying the Asian-style menu you’ll find it hard to resist too. Dine on the terrace with these stunning sea views and enjoy the stir-fry lobster (Dh210), roasted Chilean sea bass (Dh220), or the seared black cod (Dh200). You’ll soon sea why it’s so popular! Call 04 270 7802 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In on the act
When we first discovered The Act Dubai we almost didn’t want to tell anyone about it. Now the hidden gem, on the 42nd floor at the Shangri-La Hotel on Shaikh Zayed Road, has a new act we just have to shout about. The new dinner show ‘Rocker Girlz – Who Says Boys Get to Make All The Noise?’ is directed by David Ley, (part of the Screen Actors Guild) and tells the story of a girl who discovers her hidden musical talent following a devastating heartbreak. The sumptuous Peruvian food served will be your only distraction. Dh320 per person for a three-course set menu. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 8.30pm. Call 04 355 1116 or email email@example.com.
One plus point to not being on the red carpet in a glam gown? You can eat what you want at Zafran’s Big Biryani Festival! We can’t wait to scoff chicken Hyderbadi biryani and mop up the lamb and prawn biryanis, all cooked by Chef Gaurav Singh using the traditional ‘dum’ technique, which sees the biryani cooked at a low temperature in a small clay dish covered with a dough ‘lid’ to seal in the rich flavours. Yum! The festival runs until mid-March every day from 12pm to 11pm. Call 04 399 7357 (Dubai Marina Mall) and 04 284 0987 (Mirdif City Centre).
When Christian Louboutin launched his beauty line last year we took notice. Now the fabulous Python Vulcano Nail Colour Coffret in limited-edition shades has arrived to match Louboutin’s Spring 2015 collection of bags and shoes. True Blue is inspired by Madonna’s classic song. We love the spiked bottles – reminiscent of Louboutin’s famed heels. Dh440 (for a set of three) at Christian Louboutin stores across the UAE.
Belle of the ball
Looking for a dress worthy of the red carpet? Your hunt is over with Monsoon’s gorgeous array of gowns, maxis and cute frilly numbers. This summery prom-style yellow dress adds a touch of fun to any glamorous event. We love the super-cute lace trim and ribbon waistband with crystal and pearl detail. This dress really is ready for its close-up! Dh845 at Monsoon stores across the UAE.
Beyoncé has been singing about the benefits of her vegan diet for years. Now we can all try delicious vegan dishes at the Tidjoori Biorganic Vegan Café, Dubai Marina. The tofu omelettes (Dh49), red earth pizza (Dh59) and veggie skewers (Dh79) are perfect lunchtime light bites. And there are desserts too – the rose, saffron and vanilla crème brûlée (Dh34) is too delicious to deny. Call 04 386 3131 or visit www.facebook.com/TidjooriRestaurant.
Walk this way

As bold as brasserie
Imperium Restaurant at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray has given us one more reason to visit The Palm. The French-themed Friday Elegant Brunch gives the feel of a chic, cosmopolitan Parisian brasserie with a wide variety of delicious food from terrines and beef tartare to grilled seafood and roast lamb. The opulent decor with its crystal chandeliers and gold-gilded columns confirms that classic ballroom feel. Bravo! From Dh330 per person. Friday from 1pm to 4pm. Call 04 453 0444 or email JZSRestaurants@jumeirah.com.
