It’s kept everyone waiting for two years but the Saadiyat Rotana Resort and Villas is finally open; the hotel topped our list of new hotel launches for 2017 and 2018, and we finally know what it looks like. The five-star property is very Emirati yet contemporary in its identity and atmosphere, featuring modern Arabic architecture that’s reflected all through its 327 rooms and décor elements such seven glass floor panels that contain desert sands from each of the seven emirates of the UAE.

The resort is also home to an Emirati-inspired artwork collection. The Arabian heritage extends to the environment too – located on Saadiyat Island, the hotel boasts the best of desert and the beach surroundings with sightings of Hawksbill turtles, dolphins and oryxes and more possible. Four of its seven restaurants are now open – all-day dining restaurant Sim Sim, Sama Lobby Lounge, a swim up pool bar and Turtle Bay Bar & Grill.

And what’s a resort without a large outdoor swimming pool? The Saadiyat Rotana has that, as well as two tennis courts and a mini-golf course to boot.
